About the Event Thing

The Event Thing is a service to help event organisers publicise their events and to help you find local events.

Event Organisers

Create an event diary, enter your events and we'll help publicise them for free. We'll display them on the website, drop them into google and add them to facebook. We've even got an iPhone app on its way. We'll even let you know if someone adds the event to their diary.

Publishers

Would you like event content for your website or your local newsletter? The Event Thing makes this easy,

  1. just search for the content you want,
  2. save this search and then
  3. use the event feed to keep up to date with new events.

We provide the content in a wide range of formats including RSS, XML and good old HTML (see our banner generator for a quick start).

Looking for something to do?

We'll help you find events of interest to you.

You can search for events near you (or your holiday location), subscribe to individual event diaries or just browse the directory for new ideas. Save your home and work location as favourites to see what's happening around you.

If you register we'll keep a diary for you and send you a reminder the day before the event. You can event set up your own email alerts or personal event RSS news feed so you'll automatically know what is happening at the weekend.

What does it cost?

- Free!!

We just take the google ads revenue (if you are feeling nice, click on an advert) and we'll be offering some additional paid services down the line.

What is the catch?

We don't like spam or anything illegal. Don't do it. See our terms and conditions of use.

We'd also advise that you check with the event organiser before travelling to an event as this is an open public service so things may have changed since the event listing was posted.

We're also just concentrating on the UK (OK we are just launching with South Oxfordshire at the moment) so some of the tools may not be appropriate for none UK users.

We'd appreciate your feedback, let us know what you think.
